Additional Information
- Chemical nature
- Cu phthalocyanine
- Applications
- powder coatings
metallic as well as mica coatings
- Advantages
- Since it exhibits a very high standard in all their fastness properties, they can be used in practically all types of coatings.
- Handling
- Owing to their chemical structure, phthalocyanine pigments have a very non-polar surface. Thus in most binder systems only weak interactions take place between the pigment and the system’s other components. It is therefore extremely difficult to stabilize dispersions of phthalocyanine pigments; in this respect these are among the most difficult of all pigments to apply in coatings., Owing to the hydrophobic nature of copper phthalocyanine particle surfaces, however, weathered films may also release particles of copper phthalocyanine pigment., This effect is often due to low binder concentration and high content of inorganic extenders, especially in emulsion paints., The flow properties of pigmented systems are influenced by the size, size distribution and shape of the pigment particles and by the nature of the finish.
